Cleanup
What Does Post-Construction Cleaning Include?
Post-construction cleaning brings a finished space to move-in condition. Here is what a thorough final clean covers and when to schedule it.
Rough clean vs. final clean
Rough (or progress) cleaning happens between construction phases and focuses on debris removal and safe, clear work areas. Final cleaning happens after the last trade finishes and brings every surface to the standard an owner or tenant expects on move-in day.
What a final clean covers
A complete post-construction clean typically includes:
- Dust removal from ceilings, walls, ledges, ductwork, and light fixtures
- Interior window and glass cleaning, including tracks and frames
- Cabinet interiors and exteriors, closets, and shelving
- Fixture, hardware, and appliance detailing
- Floor cleaning matched to the finish (tile, hardwood, LVP, carpet)
- Removal of labels, stickers, and protective films
- Removal of remaining construction debris
When to schedule it
Schedule final cleaning after every trade has finished and before the owner walk-through or final inspection. Cleaning too early means re-cleaning after the last trades leave.
